Why Should I Read The King James Bible?

Read The King James BibleMatthew 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

There is a problem in the world today. A big problem!

There are over 6 billion bibles in print according to this statistic. Also, there are 25 million sold each year according to this answer. Another alarming fact is the bible is the best selling book.

My questions are, “Why are there so much evil? and Why does evil continue to rise instead of decrease?”

When you listen to news on television, read the newspaper, or read the news online there are usually several stories about killings, robbery’s, kidnappings, shootings, etc. You name it and it’s mentioned. A story is being told. It’s news.

How many of these people do you think, whether they are victim or perpetrator owns a bible? Did this question get you to thinking? My personal estimated answer with no statistics to back it up would be most of them do.

That troubles me because if a person has a bible and does not read it then that is the problem. Having a bible for display only helps no one. Looking at the bible laying on a table or bookcase helps no one.

The only way for the bible to help anyone is to pick it up, open it up, and read it. Then let God show and reveal things to you that will help you along the way.

This is what is wrong with the world today and will continue to get worse because they leave the bible out of there lives. If this is true then an excellent indicator is that God is also left out.

The two go hand in hand. One does not work well without the other. Meaning that in order to learn about God you need to read the bible. In order to thoroughly understand the bible you need God to reveal its truths.

People are going elsewhere for guidance. According to the rise of evil they are going to the wrong place. Receiving the wrong advice. Which causes them to do the wrong things.

Take a stand to read your bible everyday asking God to reveal his truths to you. This will help you get through the day and get through hard times. It will help you make the right decisions and keep you away from as much sin as possible.

So, your question was, “Why should I read the King James Bible?” The answer is to grow closer to God while getting the right advice and to stay away form as much sin as possible.

Do you read your bible? How often do you read your bible?

If not then why?

James 4:7-8

[7] Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

[8] Draw nigh to God, and he will draw to you. Cleanse your hands ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

You as Acronym Y.O.UThe word [YOU] in James 4:7-8 is very important. It’s mentioned five times. While [YE] is mentioned two times.

Let’s pay close attention to James 4:7, “Submit yourselves therefore to God.” I want to connect the [YOU] to the word [SUBMIT].

Y.O.U used as an acronym stands for: Yield Oneself United with God!

Submit means to give over or yield to the power or authority of another. [www.dictionary.com]

Y.O.U + SUBMIT = UNITING WITH GOD!

Are you united with God?

Not sure? Then here is how you can tell.

1. Resit The Devil v. 7 Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

If the devil has your name on his radar and is on the war path in your life then you are doing something right that he does not like. He is putting obstacles between you and God trying to get you to retreat by giving up and quitting.

The more you resist him the more he will continue to return. You can’t do anything about how often he returns but you can do something about how long he stays. God said, “resist the devil and he will flee from you.”

There are two main ways you can resist the devil.

  • Pray to God and ask him to help you through this temptation. Continue to ask, beg, and plead with God over and over again. He wants to see how serious you are.
  • Use the Bible against the devil to make him flee.

Some good examples are…

Ephesians 4:27 Neither give place to the devil.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Psalms 119:18 Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Knowing  and understanding the bible is important. Because memorizing several verses will not be enough. The devil will attack your weakness. He will attack every faucet of your life possible to deceive you.

Since he will attack many different areas of your life then knowing what scripture in the bible to use to defend against him will be a plus.

 2. Cleanse Your Hands v. 8 Cleanse your hands, ye sinners.

Every day we do things to get our hands dirty. So before we eat we should wash them with an antibacterial soap to get rid of the dirt and germs.

In our christian life we do things that dirty our hands. Things we touch, pickup, take, etc. Some things we do with our hands are just as sinful and wrong as if we had thought about it with our mind.

That leads us to point three.

3. Purify Your Hearts (Mind) v. 8 Purify your hearts, ye double minded.

Your heart is the same as mind. Controlling what goes through your mind is a difficult task. Because there are so many factors that come into play that create thoughts for you to think about.

A thought is triggered by the five senses which are sight, smell, taste, sound, and touch. Each one can be good or bad.

You have very little control over what goes into your mind but you do have full control how long it stays there.

If it’s bad don’t allow it linger to long. Get it out as soon as possible because the longer it stays the more damage it does. Filter out what goes in the best you can but be sure to trash the bad when it’s identified.

As long as you resist the devil, cleanse your hands, and purify your hearts (minds) then you draw nigh to God.

4. Draw Nigh To God v. 8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh you.

This is not a tug of war match where one group of people are trying to over power another group of people pulling on a rope in different directions. It’s the opposite where you get closer to God while he is getting closer to you.

In case you didn’t know you begin to push away from God because of sin before he pushes away from you. Most of the time God does not have to push at all.

But you can find him right where you left him. He’ll be waiting patiently for your return. Do not run away from him to long because he has work for you to do.

Are you ready to draw nigh to God?

He’s ready to draw to you. Go ahead and make the commitment to get close to God.

Maybe you’ve never accepted Jesus as your personal saviour. If not then read, “What must I Do To Be Saved?

Who Will You Serve?

My House…choose you this day who ye will serve; …but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD. Joshua 24:15

We are being pulled in so many directions today it’s almost unbearable. The choices we have are so many. But the problem is when we allow our life, problems, wants, desires, job, etc. get in the way of us serving God then they become our god. We begin to serve them.

Who will you serve?

I. You Choose

…choose you this day who you will serve; Joshua 24:15

You choose who you will serve. No one can make that decision for you. Only you!

Who will you put first in your life and your daily walk? God in Heaven or the earthly gods (things that you put before God.)

What is more important to? To walk with God who can help you when no one else will. To walk with God who understands you when no one can. To walk with God who forgives us when no else will.

The decision is up to you and only you.

This is about you so the acronym Y-O-U stands for: Yield Oneself United with God!

Although this is another sermon the question remains, “When are you going to yield yourself united with God?”

That question leads into the next point which is…

II. My Choice

…but as for me and my house we will serve the LORD. Joshua 24:15

Make a bold decision now to serve the LORD. It may be unpopular and others may not understand. But just do it anyway. Be an example to follow. Stand firm with that decision. Don’t allow others to influence you to change your mind.

It may be hard and it may get tough but stand firm!

Always serve the LORD. Put him first. Let your thoughts and actions reference the LORD.

If you do then my question to you is, “Who will you serve?” The earthly gods which are earthly things or the Heavenly God which is all knowing, all powerful, and everywhere.

Maybe you’ve heard about God or never accepted him as your personal saviour. If not, then find out how to accept him now by reading, “What Must I Do To Be Saved?
