Easter is a opportunity for families to get together to fellowship, eat delicious favorite foods, have Easter egg hunts, and win prizes. Also it gives each of us a chance to eat lots of chocolate candy, play with Easter bunnies, and baby chickens. Let’s not forget about shopping for the best sales on material things we want.
There is nothing wrong with the material side of Easter until it interfers with the real meaning. The real celebration of Easter should be for everyone to be thankful for what Jesus did for us and never for get it.
More importantly Easter is about the resurrection of Jesus Christ. In John 11 “25. Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
26. And whatsoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?” is talking about his death on the cross and resurrection so that those who believe in him may have everlasting life.
In John 11:25-26 it has not happen yet so the question remains, “Did Jesus go through with it?” At anytime from that point forward to just before it’s to take place he could change his mind and refuse to finish.
He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. Matthew 28:6
And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him. Mark 16:6
And they entered in, and found not the body of the the Lord Jesus. Luke 24:3
And he stooping down, and looking in, saw the linen clothes lying; yet went not in. John 20:5
These bible references is proof enough to verify that Jesus did exactly what he said he would. He did not back down and did not miss his appoinment but went all the way through with it.
His love for us took him through the betrayal, beating, crucifixion, and resurrection. This type of love is found only in God, Jesus, and Holy Spirit. A love that cares about other people’s eternity.
